Our journey

2014

Six racks and a whiteboard

Two coaches, a leased unit and forty founding members who put up with the paint smell for a month.

2017

The coaching floor

We knocked through into the next unit, added eight platforms and started running small-group strength blocks.

2021

Rehab and return-to-lifting

We brought a physiotherapist in two days a week so injured members could keep training around a problem instead of stopping.

2025

Two floors, same rules

A conditioning room upstairs, the lifting floor downstairs, and still a coach on shift every hour we are open.

Since 2014

A converted print works, fourteen platforms and no mirrors on the lifting floor

We opened in an old print works with six racks and a whiteboard because the gyms nearby were selling atmosphere rather than progress. The rule then is the rule now: if you train here, someone qualified knows your name, your programme and what you lifted last Tuesday. We would rather have four hundred members who make progress than four thousand who pay a direct debit and never come in.

  • Membership is capped so the floor never runs out of platforms at six o'clock
  • Every coach holds a recognised strength and conditioning qualification and is insured
  • Rolling monthly membership — cancel any time, no twelve-month contract
